Just The Basics

Hi there! Welcome to my blog page. A little bit about me: College student majoring in Journalism. Writing is a passion of mine that I hope one day can take me very far. I wish to be an Author or even a Travel Writer. I also write poetry and songs from time to time. I feel my happiest when I have a pen in my hand. I don't feel confined to the normality of day to day life, yet I feel free enclosed in the words and thoughts that flow through my pen. I hopefully one day travel to South Korea, China, Thailand, and Japan.

I am also a huge beauty lover. Beauty is actually something I came to love. My senior year was really when I got into makeup, skincare, beauty in general. From there, I have became a self-made Freelance Makeup Artist and Guru, I'm obviously not the Jackie Aina of the beauty world, but I feel like I'm good enough to give myself that title. I have my own YouTube channel as well, "Sage Monae" is my name, just in case anyone wants to subscribe.

Any K-pop lovers out there? One is right here! K-pop is my favorite hobbies, a hobby that has taken over for 4 years now. The idols are perfect, music is perfect, everything is just perfect. With minor racial hatred because I'm brown-skinned and listening to Korean music, but I don't really care anymore about what people say about me. My love for K-pop is what makes me unique.

I am also a huge food lover. Any kind is fine with me! When I travel, I want to eat everything!

My blog is basically what makes me who I am and how I am. I am Sage. The one who is still seeking herself in this complicated thing: that is life. There have been some ups and down, but I have never let that stop me from achieving my goals and dreams in life.

Beauty Tuesdays: Korean Skincare ft. Innisfree

So every Tuesdays, I've decided to pick a different beauty topic. Whether its about skincare routines or products, makeup reviews or demos, or just simply just to share my love for the beauty world in general. Today I want to talk about my favorite kind of skincare brand and products to use from Korea. From facial mist to the simple sheet masks. I feel like I am a bit of an expert when it comes to Korean skincare, even though I am a black female, I still feel like my knowledge is both interesting and helpful.

Innisfree:
I had to talk about my favorite brand first, because it really is a great brand that puts out awesome skincare. Their sheet masks are phenomenal. How do I know? I have tried them all, that's how I know. They have 16 masks in total, I've bought them all, used them all, bought again, fell in love. Yes, in that exact order. My favorites are:

  1. Cucumber
  2. Aloe
  3. Green Tea
  4. Pomegranate
  5. Tea Tree
  6. Rose
  7. My new found favorite, Bija, which helps with brightening of the skin
Green Tea Line

I am a huge fan of their Green Tea line, that promotes hydration and balancing effects for the skin.I have oily skin and it really helps to keep my skin moisturized and well-balanced. Whether you have dry skin, normal skin, acne prone, basically any skin type, moisturizing is must need. No skin is except from this key thing, called moisturizing. There is a Green Tea cleansing foam, which I really recommend for people with oily skin. I've used it for as a part of my morning routine. It leaves my skin very soft yet a hydrating after effect. The balancing toner with Green Tea is also really good for the people with oily skin, just to keep your skin well hydrated and feeling very light. It doesn't promote this, but after a couple uses of the balancing toner, I noticed that my skin felt a fresher and almost a bit youthful looking. Now I'm only 20, and I don't have wrinkles, but I still use it because I feel like it helps the prevention of wrinkles later on in life.

Bija Tree Line

This line here is, I believe, fairly new. From the sheet mask I tried, it seems to help with people have some acne spots and scaring. I used the sheet mask, maybe 2 weeks ago, and I noticed a couple days after that, some of my acne spots faded a bit, which I thought was pretty cool. I've also used their Bija cleansing foam and the Bija blemish toner for a week, it was actually pretty surprising. My skin was once again soft, and felt really fresh. I will still love the Green Tea line, but since trying Bija, I've come to love that line as well.

Korean skincare is only thing I really stick by when it comes to how my skin looks under my makeup. I know I obviously have darker skin than the Korean women, but I still buy the products simply because it works for my skin. I am in no way trying to be a Korean, nor trying to make my skin extra pale from using Korean skincare, I simply am just a huge fan of Korean skincare. I remember I did a Korean skincare unboxing on my YouTube channel a year ago, that's when I first found out about Innisfree. I had bought a 6 pack of their best facial mask from a website called Memebox.com, instantly feel in love with Innisfree. I just had to go find out more about them and basically be like "here take all my money". Hopefully one day I could collaborate with them in the near future.

Thanks for reading 💓💓💓
